B2B Social Media Strategy - Triad Business Marketing

By Manuel Valles Tellez, Managing Partner, After Interactive

It can be difficult for a company to determine whether it has made the right decision on a strategy or tactic until it becomes too late.? When it comes to B2B social media strategy, many companies unfortunately don?t find out they?re doing it wrong until after their resources have been wasted. So how can your B2B company know if it?s using the correct social media strategy?? A few reasons are:

  1. Strategy-Based ? Before a single discussion in a LinkedIn group is posted, the first tweet is tweeted, or the first blog is posted, there should be a strategy already established that will guide the tactics toward your company?s objectives.? As a business executive, you?ve spent an enormous amount of time growing your company.? This wasn?t based on pure luck.? Why should your social media efforts be unfocused?? Beginning with a strategy minimizes risk and resources spent which will lead to a higher ROI for your company.
  2. Metrics Focused ? If it can?t be measured, don?t do it.? Why?? That?s the only way you will know if your company?s B2B social media strategy is succeeding or not.? Sports teams use scoreboards and stats to determine if their team is winning or losing.? Since social media marketing is ultimately Internet-based, gathering B2B social media metrics is relatively easy to do so you can form your own ?scoreboard?.
  3. LinkedIn ? As a B2B company, there are typically specific industries, companies, and decision makers your business targets.? LinkedIn gives B2B companies a way to conduct target marketing to find their next customer.? In addition, this platform provides the professional environment to effectively promote your message.? This is more effective than Facebook which can cause your company?s postings to get lost among your friends and family?s vacation pictures and the latest Internet memes.

If it?s done effectively, starting with a B2B social media strategy can be an effective way to grow your business.? However, if your company?s social media efforts are focused on the right things, then there stands a very high chance of success.? You no longer have to hope social media works. You will know it will work.

Manuel Valles Tellez is Managing Partner of After Interactive which is a Dallas-based B2B social media strategy firm.? He has years managing the social media presence of large and small B2B organizations garnering measurable results positively effecting the bottom line.?

Bikers park their motorcycles this year for Wichita Toy Run | Wichita ...

It felt more like a Sturgis-style motorcycle rally than a motorcycle run, said Brad McKibbin, one of the thousands of bikers who turned out for Sunday?s 33rd annual Wichita Toy Run in the Delano district.

But that was okay.

Even though the event nixed the feature it was best known for ? a 15-mile motorcycle parade to the Kansas Pavilions, the benefits of changes were easy to see, he said.

?I do kind of miss the ride a little bit, but this gives you a better opportunity to walk around and talk to people and see all the bikes,? said McKibbin, who rode to the event with two biking buddies.

The toy run, which was estimated to have drawn more than 3,000 biking enthusiasts, filled downtown and near-downtown streets on Sunday with the sound of roaring bike engines and the sight of chaps-wearing riders.

The event, organized each year with the purpose of gathering toys and donations that will be distributed throughout the Christmas season by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, the Salvation Army and the Kansas Food Bank, changed its format significantly this year.

Instead of starting at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium and parading to the former Kansas Coliseum to deliver toys, participants parked on several closed-off blocks of west Douglas, then wandered around visiting with other bikers, checking out motorcycles, eating chili, listening to live music and shopping at booths selling motorcycling merchandise.

Organizers announced in July their plans to make the event stationary this year. They were responding to safety concerns, they said, citing an increase of accidents in recent years, including two during the 2011 event that injured four people. Police said that drinking and inexperience contributed to the accidents.

The new format seemed to be working well, said Major Douglas Rowland, one of the event?s organizers and the city commander for the Salvation Army. Standing near a growing pile of dolls, scooters, games, blocks and cars on Sunday afternoon, he said that most participants seemed fine with the changes.

?Some are more okay with it than others,? he said. ?But there are two things bikers like: They like to get together, and they like to ride. Just being able to get together like this out here is a big plus.?

The new format gave the event more of a block-party feel that was inclusive to children and appeared to be drawing people from nearby neighborhoods, leaving Rowland hopeful that attendance would be up this year.

John ?Bones? Traylor, who rides with the Newcomers Motorcycle Club, stood near his bike on Douglas talking about the changes with fellow bikers on Sunday afternoon.

He?s been participating in the ride for 14 years but said he preferred this year?s setup.

?I ride all the time,? he said. ?I ride 15,000 or 20,000 miles a year. But this is much better in the regard that you can have more interaction with people.?

The event was dedicated to longtime Toy Run organizer Holly Potelle, who died in June in a motorcycle accident.

For Tech seniors, loss to Texas especially tough

Texas Tech's 31-22 loss to Texas on Saturday, in the grand scheme of things, meant one thing: Its chances at keeping pace with the Big 12 Conference's frontrunners had likely diminished.

That alone may be tough enough to cope with. Internally, some Red Raiders left Jones AT&T Stadium realizing they would never get to play a football game against the Longhorns again.

Tech's seniors, specifically, will end their careers without a win against Texas.

"Seniors don't have an opportunity again to play against their in-state rival," Tech coach Tommy Tuberville said. "That was it. Hopefully we can play better for them the next three games and get into a good bowl game. It's just hard to play so well at times
and then play so poorly at times and have inopportune penalties. It absolutely took us out of it."

The Red Raiders (6-3, 3-3 in Big 12 play) committed nine penalties totaling 85 yards, some of which stripped Tech of key scoring opportunities. The most critical may have been a holding call that denied running back Kenny Williams of a 2-yard score late in
the fourth quarter.

Williams' would-be touchdown instead became a field-goal attempt, one that was blocked by Texas cornerback Carrington Byndom. The loss placed Tech in a tie for fifth place with TCU with three games left to play.

Tech's seniors suit up for that last time at Jones AT&T Stadium on Saturday when they host Kansas at 11 a.m.

The last time Tech defeated Texas, as most remember, was in 2008 ? the program's big upset of then-No. 1 Texas. Adding even more to that memory was former-Tech receiver Michael Crabtree, who was in attendance and had led the Red Raiders during the team's pre-game
"Raider Walk" just a few hours earlier.

And while the team's odds of finishing in the top half of the Big 12 standings are still in its favor (Kansas and Baylor, teams with losing records, are two of Tech's final opponents), the sting left by the Longhorns could be one that sticks with the team longer
than others.

?I feel really bad for them,? junior linebacker Will Smith said, ?because they?ve been here four years and haven?t beaten them once. So that touches me deep, too, because I was in the locker room and got pretty emotional about this loss, too. I understand how
they feel.?

Poulter keeps Ernie and Louis at bay to win in China

Poulter started his final round four shots behind joint leaders Louis Oosthuizen and Lee Westwood, but clawed his way to the top after matching the seven-under-par 65 he shot a day earlier to finish on a combined 21 under.

Poulter, who also won the 2010 WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, finished two strokes ahead of South African Ernie Els (67) and US trio Jason Dufner (64), Scott Piercy (65) and Phil Mickelson (68), who had a chance to finish second on his own but missed a five-foot putt on the last.

Westwood and Oosthuizen finished tied for sixth, three shots adrift, after carding matching level par 72s.

Poulter conceded he thought the tournament was Oosthuizen?s to lose after the South African burst to the top of the leaderboard at 16 under after the second round.

He could only look on with envy as Lee Westwood fired a 61 and Brandt Snedeker flirted with a 59 in the third round before finally carding a course record 60.

Poulter, however, refused to go away, and made the most of his short game to card back-to-back seven under 65s on Saturday and Sunday to take the title.

?I had seen all the other guys shooting low and felt the way Louis played on the first two days he was going to run away with it,? added Poulter.

The 36-year-old was under immense pressure after finding a greenside bunker at the last, but with water just beyond the flag he played a delicate recovery from the sand and rolled home a 10-foot putt to seal the win.

?I knew there was a low round of golf our there in me. My short game has been good this week and at the 18th I knew I could get up and down from anywhere.

?And shooting 14 under over the weekend is a decent score.?

Poulter is the only player to have appeared in all eight tournaments since the HSBC Champions was launched at the Sheshan International Club in Shanghai in 2005.

The win at Mission Hill?s was his first strokeplay victory since the 2010 Hong Kong Open.

?Its been an amazing six weeks with the Ryder Cup,? he said.

?But it?s so nice to get back into the winner?s zone again. In my career I have only had one season without a victory and I didn?t want to go another season without one ? that would have been a disappointment.?

Earlier in the day it was announced that HSBC had renewed their contract to sponsor the Champions event for the next three years and it will return to Sheshan in 2013.

Tim Finchem, the US Tour commissioner, also announced that next year?s event would count towards the start of the 2014 FedEx Cup in America.
