LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) ? The Washington Redskins should be in no hurry to trade Kirk Cousins ? just ask Boomer Esiason.
Since taking over for the injured Robert Griffin III, all Cousins has done is guide Washington to a come-from-behind overtime victory against the Baltimore Ravens and a convincing road win over the Cleveland Browns. The latter of which came in his first career NFL start.
It?s rare for a team to have two legitimate starting-caliber quarterbacks, let alone a pair drafted in the same year.
Yet, that?s exactly the luxury Mike Shanahan has with Cousins and a Heisman Trophy winner hell-bent on revitalizing a long-suffering Redskins franchise.
?You finally have a one-two punch at quarterback, why mess with that?? Esiason asked 106.7 The Fan?s Holden Kushner and Danny Rouhier.
?You now realize, all of a sudden, he?s like All-State Insurance ?- you?re in good hands with Cousins.?
The pair are expected to resume their regular roles with Griffin under center on Sunday in Philadelphia. But should something happen, Cousins has proven he?s more than ready.
