Belarus, as country-exporter, - profitable client of transit partners.

The Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan shapes the internal economic territory with own transport network, railway rates.
Pavel Tukhto reports: The Baltic Sea is large competitive area today. Not only Russia, Latvia and Lithuania fight for cargo traffic. Gigantic economic blocs of the European Union and the Common Economic Space fight for that.
In the Freeport of Riga about 10% of cargo is Belarusian, in Ventspils - about 1/3, and also railway transit. The similar situation takes place in Lithuania.
(Igor Kabashkin, Head of the Transport and Telecommunication Institute, Latvia)
The transit map nowadays is the following: Belarusian cargoes go to Riga, Ventspils and Klaipeda. The ports have been geared to Belarusian enterprises since the soviet times. Today the competition is stronger - new terminals are built in Ust-Luga and Primorsk.
(Nikolai Tsukanov, Governor of Kaliningrad Region)
(Leonid Loginov, Director of the Freeport of Riga)
Belarusians are checking all the options.
(Andrey Markushev, Chairman of TransBaltic Oil Board)
(Alfred Chepanis, Chairman of the Society for assistance to the Belarusian-Latvian economic cooperation)
Our stance is to diversify economic and political risks. That's why Belarus also considers Russian projects.
(Igor Kabashkin, Head of the Transport and Telecommunication Institute, Latvia)
Due to high competition between Baltic ports, Belarusian exporters get more opportunities to choose the best rout for cargo traffic.
