Week in Review: Sewing, Books, Cooking, Home and Family ...

I hope that you have had a great week ? here is a glimpse of what happened in mine?

?

Sewing

I had the opportunity to ship two custom orders this week. ?As I mentioned in my post earlier this week, there is something special about making an item with a specific person in mind. ?I have also been focusing on establishing deadlines for myself, so that I can monitor how I am doing with building my shop.

This afternoon, I will be having lunch with a group of local Etsy shop owners in the first Destash Bash organized by Jennifer from The Underestimated Mom. ?I have collected a few bags of crafting supplies that I will not be using, and hope that they will find a new home today. ?Most of all, I am looking forward to meeting the new shop owners today!

?

Books

I have not been reading much the past few weeks because I have been spending time in front of the sewing machine.

J and I have been reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz?together, which is the first time for both of us. ?I love comparing the book to the movie ? there are so many differences! ?I can?t wait for J to see the movie for the first time after we finish the book.

Based upon a recommendation from Mari at Bookworm with a View, I have added The Buddha in the Attic?to my wishlist. ?It sounds like a wonderful combination of women?s fiction and historical fiction!

?

Cooking

This week was all about quick meals because we were running around with Tae Kwon Do, gymnastics, Daisy Scouts and religious education. ?On Sunday, I did make one of our family favorites: ?Mini Meatloaves. ?I make the Italian version with the marinara and mozzarella topping. ?If you like meatloaf, this is a fast tasty version!

?

Home

I found this gorgeous photograph on Etsy last week and thought that it would be a perfect addition to my sewing room walls. ?Last weekend, I spent several hours organizing the sewing room and adding a few pictures to the wall to make it more attractive.

I have been looking for a great idea for a pinboard or corkboard for the room, and found a great idea on Pinterest?to use a large oil drip pan as a magnet board. ?After a failed attempt at finding one at WalMart, I ordered one online and it arrived this week. ?So excited! ?I?ll post photos when I?m a little more settled.

?

Family

Proud Mom and Purple Belt!

Breaking the Board

We have a purple belt in Tae Kwon Do! ?J had her graduation last night and did great. ?My favorite part of her graduations is when she breaks the board. ?My husband always holds the board for her and I think that he is just as proud as she is!

Early this morning J and my husband left for a weekend away at our friends? lake house. ?Unfortunately, I do not have Monday off of work so the dogs and I will be hanging out. ?I expect a lot of uninterrupted sewing time, but the house will be very quiet!

?

Hope that you all have a great week!
